Monday, July 17: HPCS 2017 Welcome Reception - 19:15-21:45

Grand Hotel Savoia - Genoa

Splendid Venue. Sign up on conference website to get your ticket. HPCS Conference Welcome Reception with light hors d’oevres and beverages.

We hope that all HPCS 2017 participants will be at the Reception on Monday evening. Please confirm your participation in the reception on your registration form so that we can reserve a seat for you.

Tuesday, July 18: An Open City Tour - 19:15-22:15

Guided Walking Sightseeing City Tour - followed by dinner time

Participants will be guided through the ancient buildings of the historical center of Genova, a UNESCO world heritage site. These elegant residences belonging to the aristocracy and date back to the 16th and 17th centuries.

The visit will move through the narrow alleys (Caruggi) of the widest historical center in Europe, to discover its many curiosities and secrets. The tour starts from the Old Port area and guides you through the highlights of the city, including the San Lorenzo Cathedral, the Doge Palace, the Opera House, and the wonderful Strada Nuova Museums.

In the museums – the galleries of Palazzo Rosso, the Palazzo Bianco, and Palazzo Tursi – you can admire the antique furniture and important masterpieces of Italian and foreign artists. The museum exhibits works by Veronese, Procaccini, Rubens, Van Dyck, and many more.

Dinner: The guide will provide information to the participants that wish to stop in the city center for dinner. Dinner on your own at one of the proposed restaurants. See more details at

Wednesday, July 19: HPCS 2017 Banquet Dinner - 20:00-22:30

Cisterne di Palazzo Ducale - Genoa

The HPCS annual dinner banquet and awards event. Sign up on conference website in order to have a ticket.

We hope that all HPCS 2017 participants will be at the dinner banquet on Wednesday evening. Please confirm your participation in the banquet on your registration form so that we can reserve a seat for you.

Below the main palace of Genova, Palazzo Ducale, lays the ancient water reservoir. In the ‘500, they guaranteed a continuous supply to Palazzo Ducale. Recently, the large empty space has been reorganized to host events with up to 500 participants.

Meet in Hotel lobby at 7:30 PM (19:30) for gathering to the Cisterne di Palazzo Ducale. It is a 20-minutes walk from Grand Hotel Savoia. Can also take the METRO. Make sure to bring the Banquet Dinner Ticket with you.

Thursday, July 20: Genoa Cultural Event - 19:15-20:45

Welcome to Genoa, the city of the great navigators of the past, a maritime republic and the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. During the Roman Empire, Genoa was the “gateway” to the Mediterranean Sea and nowadays it is still one of the main ports in Europe. Moreover, its historic centre is one of the largest and best preserved in the ‘Old Continent.’

On board of the bus with a guide, you will be able to admire the most beautiful places of Genoa, with its valuable historical and artistic heritage. Tentative Itinerary will be as in below.

Event 1: Cinque Terre and the Italian Riviera - Guided Tour

A guided visit to Cinque Terre, UNESCO world heritage site since 1997. A memorable and exciting tour overall. Sign up on conference website now.

Join us for all-day guided tour of the Five Lands (Cinque Terre). This guided tour will begin at the conference hotel where we will be picked up by our guide and go for a special train trip.

Cinque Terre is a group of 5 small villages (Riomaggione, Manarola, Vernazza, Corniglia and Monterosso). They consist of the typical, colorful houses grabbing the steep rocks of the Ligurian Riviera. During the centuries, the farmers shaped this hostile territory to grow the vines. Today, they produce a famous and rare wine called Sciacchetrà. More details about cinque terre can be found at:

Participants will visit Monterosso, Riomaggiore and Manarola. An English-speaking guide will accompany the group from Genoa. At the end of the tour, the guide will accompany the group on the train per Genoa. This Discover Cinque Terre guided tour includes a special lunch in a typical restaurant of the region.

Event 2: Alba, Canelli and the Liguria and Piedmont Hills - Guided Tour

A guided tour through Liguria and Piedmont hills where some of the best Italian wines such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, and Spumante are produced.
